I had earlier written about Ghost’s instagram profile.
Best practices suggest that if you start an Instagram account, then you should be ready for the constant updation and maintenance. Ghost, breaks this apart by creating an impressive grid and then nothing more.
The account is inactive by all counts but it has 4000+ followers.
I analyse this matter in this blog post. And make a case for “place holder” social media accounts – basically similar inactive accounts which help you keep your brand handle and also engage with any users who might land up there. Plus, you can leverage this account for ads.
Another initiative that Ghost has put in place really well is their curated newsletter.
They call it the “Curated Newsletter for Independent Publishing“
Ghost’s Curated Newsletter
I love this niche
It is a niche but when you think about it, it is applicable for so many use cases. Whether you work on a company blog or personal blog or have content website – this newsletter is applicable for you.
Well Curated!
The most important thing: the newsletters are really well curated. I don’t exactly remember when I signed up for it, but the couple of ones that I read, left a distinct impression. It is very relevant to the niche. It looks in detail at various aspects that would be relevant for any independent publisher – should comments be kept open on news sites? are you ready for a membership option? do polarizing content brands actually work? and so on.
In their own words:
“Digital publishing is rapidly evolving before us as the landscape of technology, business models and responsible journalism shifts. We’re at a critical point where advertising money is fast disappearing and public trust in media is at an all time low. Clickbait is a dying trend and there’s an abundance of information and distraction out there. How do publishers who want to make a difference in their field navigate these changing tides? “
You can sign up for this newsletter here.
You can also submit content that you feel is relevant for it. (Good move!)
I am personally a fan of curated newsletters. I really like them.
People who consider email an outdated or done-with medium really surprise me. I think it is a lovely mix to your growth marketing activities. This is the reason that my first lead magnet on this website was a 12 day email course on the basic growth framework 🙂
